Wanted Financial Blogger (Flatiron)

Great opportunity for someone to learn everything in a 21st C newsroom.

The Deal has an excellent opportunity for a motivated digital media journalist in the early years of his/her career. We seek a financial blogger for TheDeal.com. This person will write and edit commentary pieces on the leading dealmaking events of the day. The opportunity also exists to get involved with producing and editing online video segments. The right candidate is a self-starter, eager to gain new Web 2.0 skills and passionate about financial news. Writing experience mandatory, especially under multiple intraday deadlines. Some editing experience a plus.
Specific duties include:
- Write multiple blog posts for TheDeal.com throughout the business day.
- Manage inventory of Dealwatches – our comprehensive primers on active deals and industry sectors.
- Assist in production of TheDeal.com sites, video and other products.
- Engage site readers through relevant social network channels.

Requirements:
Writing experience mandatory, 2-3 years
Proficient in HTML, and familiar with blog content management systems.
Experience with blog content management systems
Able to work under constant deadline pressure and willing to go to the extreme to get the job done
Self starter
Team player, able to get along with the diverse personalities found in a typical newsroom
Passionate about financial news
Experience in financial journalism a+
Editing experience a+
