Law/Blogger/Editor - - UK Legal News and Developments (bakersfield)

My client, a well known online media company is looking for a writer with a JD or LLM (licensed or unlicensed) to help launch a new consumer-facing UK legal blog.
This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring journalists to break into a well known media company and have a chance to develop high quality editorial content and drive traffic to our web portal. And you will be paid decently for your work. Here are the details:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Need a writer to help launch a new consumer facing UK legal blog
Must track legal news and UK developments on a daily basis, using multiple sources
Must create and manage editorial calendar for consumer-facing UK leg
Content will cover employment, PI, family law, commercial law, tax, conveyance, etc.
Objective is to produce high quality editorial content to drive web traffic
Work with Social Media Team to optimize blog posts using best practices in tagging, keyword usage, headline creation, content optimization and basic SEO
Track blog performance using multiple measures (i.e. traffic, conversion, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS
JD or LLM with significant experience and understanding of British culture and UK law or equivalent combination of legal education and work experience
Excellent writing and reporting skills including fluency in British English, with ability to write in a conversational tone
Must produce high quality creative content for consumers and search engines; not lawyers
Should approach writing from a marketing perspective as well as a legal perspective
Must be creative, quick a learner, have good business acumen, and understand target audience
Basic understanding of HTML or a willingness to learn basic HTML skills
Must be willing to learn basics of SEO (search engine optimization), important to drive traffic
Professional blogging or online media experience is preferred, but not required
Experience practicing law in UK highly desired, but not required
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Qualifying law degree, JD or LLM with significant coursework in UK law
Working knowledge of UK legal system with particular emphasis on the type of legal work completed by solicitors
Interest in following UK news and legal developments and using that information to help UK consumers understand how the law applies to their daily life
Internet savvy with experience utilizing social media tools such as blogs, message boards, social networks, microblogging, social bookmarking and/or social sharing
This position does NOT allow telecommuting but some flexible scheduling may be considered. It is a temporary position that is slated to last for six months to a year and could go permanent for the right candidate.
